Over Labor Day we visited a couple lookouts and did a lot of hiking, visiting a couple lakes along the way. The first lake we visited is one that holds a special place in our hearts, Skyland Lake. Skyland is a special place to us as it was one of the first big hikes we did as a couple when we stayed at our first fire lookout. It also holds some of the ashes of our first dog, Deakin, and on our last visit we spread the ashes of Fallon and some of my grandma to watch over them. The name itself is very beautiful, as it is where the sky and land become one, and the reflection of the lake does exactly that.

This lake will always be special to us, and now your little ones have visited and even taken a dip in the water. The dragonflies have always loved this spot, and they were really out and about, as you can see them flying by in a few of the videos. 🏔️

 Grief is the price we pay for love.

On August 30th, National Grief Awareness Day, we had our biggest hike. Our goal was to stay at Heart Lake, but the signs directed us to hike an additional 2 miles back to Northbound Lake, the place where we had lunch. 

This day had Angel Baby Signs jumping out all over. Skyland Lake sent us off with more dragonflies before we left and while we were at Northbound Lake at lunch, we were surrounded by these orange butterflies (maybe butterfly moths) flying all around. On the hike to and from Heart Lake, there were tons of beautiful flowers, sun kissed rays in photos, and bumble bees. When we got back to Northbound, I took a photo of our dog, and a rainbow ray was captured in the photo. There were white butterflies instead of the orange ones, white feathers, and a moose on the other side of the lake where a fish jumped in the video as I was zooming in on it. I knew this was the place we were supposed to be, even though I had this whole paper release planned out at Heart Lake. 

I know there are no words to make any of this better, but we are not alone no matter how lonely grief can feel. I believe that our babies are together, wherever that may be. They work together to send us signs directly and through one another. We may not always feel them nearby or see their signs when we want them, but they are always there as we, as mothers and fathers, carry them with us each day in our hearts.
